rights at the center of Washington's agenda. As a local human rights advocacy
group in New York, and with the Philippines still undergoing a human rights
crisis, we hope your statement will be seriously considered and your suggestions

Gelukkig was

enige gremium is waar groene nationale parlementariërs elkaar ontmoeten;

Article for North Star Compass
Five years ago, the George W. Bush regime of U.S. imperialism, the world's
number #1 terrorist, placed Jose Maria Sison on its "terrorist list." Philippine
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA), Bush's most loyal puppet in
Southeast Asia, wholeheartedly concurred with this listing, despite the fact
that the Philippines had no law covering such a designation and that Joema
Sison had no criminal charges of any kind pending in the Philippines or
anywhere else. The European Union, emphasizing the partnership aspect
of its imperialist partnership-rivalry relationship with U.S. imperialism, also
placed Joema on its terrorist list. Since he had been living in the Netherlands
for more than a decade as a political exile from the Philippines, this last
designation had a direct impact on the lives of Joema, his family and friends
as well as on the movement organizations in which he has leading responsibility.

The Case of Jose Maria Sison
By Gary Leupp

On the morning of August 28, Dutch plainclothes police raided the home of
exiled Filipino revolutionary leader Jose Maria Sison in Utrecht, the Netherlands,
arrested him and charged him with ordering the murder of two persons in the
Philippines in 2003. According to his wife, they broke down the front door without
bothering to ring or knock, bruising her arm as they prevented her from making
a phone call. They carted away computers, documents, CDs, and other files,
remaining until the evening while she was instructed to sit in a corner. Eight
other locations were simultaneously raided.

Dit is geen strafproces meer maar een politiek proces. En
het principe van de scheiding der machten gebruikt zij om

Charges against Joma, Satur and Jalandoni are absurd

September 02, 2006
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today dismissed as "absolutely without basis and completely absurd"
the plan of the military to file multiple murder charges against National Democratic Front Senior Political Consultant

"Mass graves" in Leyte a massive hoax by the AFP
Fr. Santiago "Sanny" Salas
Spokesperson in Eastern Visayas
National Democratic Front of the Philippines
September 02, 2006
The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas accuses the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Arroyo regime of recycling
an old psywar routine in the so-called discovery of "mass graves" in Inopacan, Leyte of allegedly 300 summarily-executed victims
of the revolutionary movement. This massive hoax desperately aims to cover up the murder by the Arroyo regime of more than
700 activists and civilians to date, by demonizing the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People's Army as inherently
evil and inhumane. By resorting to such a wornout psywar scheme to stigmatize the CPP and the NPA, this regime that has
become an international pariah because of its political killings thereby seeks to justify and intensify its all-out war, especially the
bloodbath of activists and civilians who are virtually sentenced to death as communists and revolutionary sympathizers.

Just last week, Gen. Jovito Palparan, of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) told the "Defense" Committee of the House of
Representatives of the Philippines: "The enemy is everywhere in Samar Island." By "enemy" he meant the Maoist guerrillas of the
New People's Army (NPA). Fifty to sixty percent of the population of Samar sympathize with the NPA, added Palparan, explaining
army killings of civilians on this island jutting out of the archipelago between Luzon and Leyte. He might understate NPA support.
Mao Zedong famously stated that the relations between the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the masses of people should be
like the relationship "between fish and water." The Filipino communists seek to replicate the Chinese experience, by establishing
limited control over liberated zones that transform peasant life in ways that broaden support for the revolution and allow the guerrillas
to operate among the people as easily as fish swim in the sea. The ultimate goal is to combine urban insurrection and the surrounding
of the cities by the peasant-based army to accomplish the seizure of power and begin building socialism. Gen. Palparan, known locally
as "the butcher of Mindoro," must find the Maoists' successes on Samar deeply frustrating.

May 4, 2005
Walden Bello's column, "Wolfowitz and the Philippines: a historical footnote," in the Philippine Daily Inquirer on April 30, 2005
wasn't quite complete or accurate. He failed to mention that the U.S. NSSD (National Security Study Directive) on continued U.S.
support for Marcos was "leaked" to him by an American "informant" of his, and he not only put all his eggs in that basket, but
purveyed it to the Philippine revolutionary movement leadership at the time as gospel truth, thus incurring some responsibility for

because to do so with the sort of rigor one might attempt in

questions about U.S. military history, from the Trail of Tears

Letter from
Dave Pugh of New York City
March 10, 2005
Walden Bello's charges get a hearing internationally because of his status as a prominent
anti-globalization activist and author. Among other things, his latest book advocates "balancing
the US superpower by global civil society." This is nothing new. For years Bello has been a
vocal advocate of organizing "civil society" to reform the WTO by relying on pressure from
NGOs and social-democratic parties (such as Lula's Worker's Party in Brazil). In order to pursue
this strategy, Bello has opposed efforts to build anti-imperialist organizations and struggle that
can actually break the stranglehold of the World Bank, WTO and other neo-liberal institutions
on the exploited, poor nations of the "Third World." As a result, Bello and Focus on the Global
South, which he directs, are funded by Western foundations and other elite sources.

A recent statement by Walden Bello and Focus on the Global South attempts
to generate public concern about their Executive Director's safety. This
worry stems from an article published in the Ang Bayan, the official publication

seven prominent people's organizations as connected to the CPP. Among
them are KMP, KMU, Migrante, and CPA-organizations representing thousands
of Filipino peasants, workers, and indigenous people-- members of BAYAN-Philippines,
which represents the Filipino people's broadest and largest organized
